We upgraded to ESX 5.1 over the weekend. Since then our we pages delivered from our Windows 2008 web servers (pre R2) have been intermittent at best. Before the upgrade all was well.
We even see a very plain test HTML web pages failing.
Note that when we build a brand new Windows 2008 box it works OK. So something on the old boxes, a patch or something, doesn't work well with ESX 5.1.
We even see the intermittency if we run the browser and the web server on the same ESX host
The servers ping, RDP etc OK. Nothing untoward in the event viewer.
The Windows 2008 R2 boxes are fine.
At the moment, out of desperation, we're replacing all the Windows 2008 boxes with Windows 2008 R2 and each is testing fine.
Has anyone seen intermittent http / https errors on Windows 2008 IIS 7.0 wih VMWare ESX5.1?
