Re: What's your update policy?

Hi,

it depends. Is it an update that fix an issue that we have, asap.

Else, for me, the first and one of the main points is, wait!

Wait and check the community.

My opinion on implement updates is, that the last update from vmware aren´t what i expected to be! There are a lot of issues that you get while updating your infrastructure to fast.

If you haven´t any issues, than wait. But thats for us only.

After that, first, install the update in an test or dev environment. Not in a production site.

Than, wait again, check community and other sources, do some tests, read the changelog and stuff like that.

We does not have any rule that say, hey, install all updates as fast as possible. And that, for sure, i am very lucky about.

But i guess that really depend on your size and on your ongoing change policy. If you have one ;-)

I am not very happy about the update that vmware released over the last year or two. I guess that is enough said, with update 5.1a,b,c......

Sometimes, i thought, aren´t they check what they released? But anyway, therefor i wait until i do any updates in our production site.

Only my thoughts

Frank
