I'm building a home server and I'm hoping to use ESXi to be able to manage a number of distinct VM's from it, that said I realise this Hardware is not on the the VMWare supported list so this is more directed to anyone who might have experienced in their own home server build with this setup.
The Mainboard is an ASUS Z97-M Plus, it has an Intel ACH9 Serial Controller, VMWare does not have this driver by default however I have modified the install to include it and can confirm my Intel X25-M SSD drive appears fine. The drive itself is a Samsuing XP941 M.2 PCI-E x2 SSD.
Both Linux and Windows 7/8 install without any issue however both VMWare ESXi 5.5 and 6 beta refuse to detect the drive during setup or to boot the drive if its cloned across from another HD.
I don't have a lot of experience troubleshooting VMWare in any more detail so any help would be appreciated.
