I need your suggestion regarding the migration of ESXi 5.0 to ESXi 5.5, I know the migration is very straight forward process but we need best practice as per our scenario.
Currently we have two IBM server and below the configuration for both the servers.
- IBM 3850 M2 (Total VM-15)
- IBM x3850 X5 (Total VM-50)
Since both the server having different processor so we have not configured High Availability and VMotion.
Recently we purchased two new servers i.e. IBM X3850 X6 with higher configuration and planning to migrate entire VM from old servers to new servers.
I have already installed ESXi 5.5 on new servers but now I need some suggestion what should be the next step either vcenter upgrade or current ESXi upgrade.
If I upgrade current vcenter server from 5.0 to 5.5 then will it support existing host machine i.e. ESXi 5.0
Please suggest me the best practice regarding the same.
