Hi all,
Long time user, but first time poster so go easy on me.
So I'm hitting a bit of a weird situation here, I'm currently working on a completely new vSphere environment to replace our existing one (don't ask, long story).
Following through the documentation and also various other tips around the web I came up with the plan for installation and went ahead:
here's what I did:
2 seperate servers involved, 1 for vcenter server and 1 for the SQL database
SQL setup and ready to go with 2 DB's created RSA and VCDB, with relevant users assigned relevant permissions.
After installing table spaces for SSO I went ahead with the SSO install, this went through fine. Service accounts used where needed and admin@System-Domain password set, lookup service sdk responds in a browser etc etc
I then installed the Inventory service, this also went through fine.
next I installed the vsphere web client which again went fine, and I was able to login with the above admin@System-Domain account and find that the AD discovery had successfully detected our domain. Great.
I then added an AD group to the __Administrators__ SSO group. This AD group contained my admin account, after which I was able to login to the web client with my account.
Next I went through the vCenter server installation, using the relevant service accounts and database connections etc etc. I used the AD group which I added to SSO previously for the last step. This completed successfully without error.
I now went to login to the web client again, with my account, to manage vcenter to no avail...
The vCenter server does not appear in the drop down lists in Administration or in the vcenter section. I also can't login to vcenter using the fat (C#) client.
My first thought was that it wasn't registered with the inventory service, however I've since reinstalled vCenter Server and during the install it told me that there was already a vcenter server present (would I like to delete).
Does anyone have any ideas as to where to go from here?
Thanks
Jon
