Re: Do I need more licenses?
Hi and welcome to the communities, you can add all your ESXi hosts to the same vCenter Server, if: Your vCenter Server is licensed as Standard and your ESXi hosts are licensed standard or above. You...

I don't mind doing it from the CLI, but I really don't want to have to manually download all the patches, figure out dependencies, and push them to my hosts using something like SCP, or having to build...

I do have two hosts, actually 9 to be specific. However, I'm looking at this from more of a hypothetical/design question. I'm trying to build out the initial stages of a vCloud and the best practice...

It's certainly possible to automate this process with PowerCLI. The difficult thing is going to be getting the list of patches required from VUM to a script. Here is how I would do it: 1) Get the list...

This is definetely to do with a corrupt Disc image, we had this today and used an HP ILO connection to mount the downloaded image and it worked fine.

Thanks both!!Now is clear What I saw was in VM Workstation, in this software you can visualize until 10 NIC´s with only 1 physical NIC 1GB. It is not posible for a real ESXi server.KRJesus

Hi, What you are seeing now (attached screenshot) is a vCenter server not a Virtual Machine. Looks like you have not added ESXi hosts to the vCenter server. Regards,VijayNB
View ArticleRe: Migrate ESXi5.5 to view in VCenter.
You must create a Datacenter and add the ESXi host where you created the virtual machine of vCenter in this datacenter... after this you will be able to see the host, VMs, storage, etc.
View ArticleRe: Migrate ESXi5.5 to view in VCenter.
Take a look at the "Getting Started" tab. This will guide you through the steps of adding the ESXi host to the vCenter Server environment. If you want to setup a cluster, create a Datacenter, then...

That's ok,. vCenter is a tool to manage the hosts and to provide advanced features. So simply add the host to the vCenter environment. André

You must create a Datacenter, not a datastore :-)

View ArticleRe: Migrate ESXi5.5 to view in VCenter.
The recommendation is to install vCenter Server as a VM. If the host goes down and you are not running it in a cluster with shared storage (i.e. use HA) then vCenter will aslo be down, and you will...
