I am unable to copy the files of vm that is on esxi top of the which on vcenter, the vmware log files are located in data store, post which I m unable to copy them.

From the Troubleshooting Options menu of the DCUI, enable the ESXi shell and SSH.  You should be able to copy files from the ESXi datastore with scp.

@suresh HP says that they do not support this feature. Is there any chance to patch a hp esxi version to a normal one? I need my tape drive running

Both of those log files are for "C:\Users\KIRAN V\Documents\Virtual Machines\VMware ESXi 5.1\VMware ESXi 5.1.vmx". Is your ESXi guest running and responsive?  If so, can you please upload the...

Even VMware does not support Tape Drive. You can add the tape drive to a standalone windows server and take a network backup. Regards,Suresh

I know but a lot of people are using it with vm. And its working. The only problem is to get the controller to the vm and I am looking for a solution.

This pass thru issue started only after esxi 5.1 you can try with lower esxi version like 5.0 and check if that works.

Downgrade is not possible in esxi. You have to reinstall again with lower version. Regards,Suresh

Do you know if the vms are running under 5.0? So if I backup alle the vms -> reinstall with 5.0 -> put the vms back and start.

How did your upgraded the esxi from 5.1 to 5.5 ? with update manager or with direct ISO mounted on host?
