Hello everyone,
following the completion of my quick vSphere 5.5 guide, I wanted to create a project that I could use to showcase every product and solution for datacenter virtualization from VMware.
In other words, to go through the installation and configuration of vSphere, plus any and all related solutions, such as VMware Data Protection, vCenter Orchestrator, Operations Manager and so on.
And most importantly, to document everything in detail.
To that end, I decided to start building the ultimate vSphere home laboratory. This will not be based on consumer hardware, nor will any ESXi nodes be nested / virtual.
It will be a 3-node cluster comprised of enterprise-class server hardware and network equipment, all contained within a standard rack cabinet.
Here is a simple block diagram to give you a basic visual representation of the project:
I will go through each phase of the project, starting with the design and ending with the upgrade to a future vSphere release, in detail.
The point of documenting everything is of course to create a step-by-step, complete and informative tutorial.
I am posting all the details on my personal blog, here: [VMware] building the ultimate vSphere laboratory
Anyone who wishes to follow the project can do so by keeping an eye on the home page or more simply through this RSS feed: Virtualis .info - all about virtualization</title> <atom:link href="http://virtualis.info/feed/" rel=…
