You can svmotion virtual machines  using web client without shared storage.  vMotion without shared storage requirement, does it have a name? | VMware vSphere Blog - VMware Blogs

I was thinking the same way, thanks. More easier than moving VMs over vmotion network. How about VMFS version? 3.3 in  esx 4 and 5.58 in 5.1? will there be any challenge in upgrade? Regards, Kumar
